Masks of the Occult - Book Excerpt
"Virtue has a veil, vice a mask." -Victor Hugo
Evil wears a mask projecting hopes, dreams, desires, caring, kindness and even love. Evil hides behind this.
For example a cult group goes out and starts to dance and sing on the lawn in a downtown square. They look happy and cheerful and fun, kind and giving and playing nicely together. This is something a known cult called the 12 Tribes of Israel does. They create collaborations like opening a restaurant. They pray openly. However, once indoctrinated into the cult, it isn't as fun.
Extremely unhealthy cults , like 12 Tribes create an elaborate facade, a mask, a illusion to draw the person in, once in they can't get out with out breaking their mind control. The game is one of attract, trap and keep as long as they can. To break the cycle people fight for their lives to get out. Some do not and there are people who end up dead, like children born in the 12 Tribes cult not allowed medical care at birth and die.
The mask or the cult is always attractive , once in for a long enough time an individual will often see the other side of the mask. Akin to a narcissist, once the true face is seen the abuser moves on to take advantage of other people or the next victim. Once the member in the cult sees the other side of the mask that is when they start to realize there is more to the story than they were told. That is when they start to think of leaving, only to realize they are trapped by circumstance (see our chapter on this).
